American Airlines, along with its American Eagle regional partners, offers thousands of flights daily to more than 350 destinations in over 60 territories. The major U.S. hubs include Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, Phoenix, and Washington, D.C.

The AAdvantage® programme, which debuted in 1981, allows members to earn and redeem miles on partner airlines within the oneworld alliance. AAdvantage® status members receive special benefits when flying on any oneworld member airline, such as priority check-in, preferred/pre-reserved seating, and access to airport lounges.

The oneworld alliance provides a smooth travel experience, enhanced cooperation in frequent-flyer programs, and a wider range of round-the-world products for its customers.

The oneworld alliance offers three tiers of elite status: Emerald, Sapphire and Ruby

The primary benefit of Oneworld Ruby status is access to business-class priority check-in queues. Ruby members may also get preferred or pre-reserved seating and priority on waitlists and when on standby. However, these perks aren't offered consistently, as they're provided based on the operating airline's policy.

Oneworld Sapphire members get access to business-class lounges on eligible tickets and priority boarding, in addition to the benefits offered to Ruby members. They also get an extra baggage allowance and priority baggage handling when flying on Oneworld member airlines.

Oneworld Emerald members get access to first-class lounges on eligible tickets, first-class priority check-in and fast-track or priority lanes at select airports, in addition to the benefits given to Sapphire members. They also get a higher extra baggage allowance than Sapphire members when flying on Oneworld member airlines.

All three tiers of elite status offer a range of benefits that can make travel more seamless and enjoyable. These benefits are available to members of frequent flyer programmes with oneworld member airlines, and the tier status is based on the level of status achieved in those programmes.

American Airlines AAdvantage® members can earn and redeem miles on oneworld® partner airlines

AAdvantage® members can earn miles based on the ticket price, which includes the base fare and carrier-imposed fees, excluding government-imposed taxes and fees. The higher the AAdvantage® status, the more miles can be earned. For example, an AAdvantage® member earns 5 miles for every U.S. dollar, while an AAdvantage Executive Platinum® member earns a 120% bonus.

Miles can be redeemed for award travel or to upgrade to a higher cabin on American and American Eagle flights. Award travel is valid for one-way, round-trip, or multi-city trips.

In addition to earning and redeeming miles, AAdvantage® members receive special benefits when flying on any oneworld® member airline, including priority check-in, preferred/pre-reserved seating, access to lounges, extra baggage allowance, and priority baggage handling.

Select AAdvantage® members also have access to airport lounges when travelling on oneworld® airlines. To be eligible, members must be travelling in First or Business Class, departing on a flight marketed and operated by a oneworld® member airline, and hold AAdvantage Platinum®, AAdvantage Platinum Pro®, or AAdvantage Executive Platinum® status.

The oneworld alliance includes one Oneworld Connect partner: Fiji Airways

The Oneworld Connect platform is connected to the Oneworld Alliance, which includes American Airlines, British Airways, and other world-leading airlines. Together, they serve over 900 destinations in more than 170 territories. The Oneworld Connect platform allows select non-alliance airlines to share certain Oneworld services and benefits with their customers, creating a more seamless travel experience.

Fiji Airways is currently a Oneworld Connect partner and will become the 15th full member of the alliance in 2025. As a member of the Oneworld Connect platform, Fiji Airways offers its customers several benefits when travelling on Oneworld member airlines. For example, customers of American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, and Qantas can enjoy through-check-in privileges for themselves and their luggage when flying Fiji Airways. This means travellers can pass through a single check-in at their origin airport, without having to collect their bags and check in again when transitioning between airlines. Additionally, travellers who booked tickets through these four Oneworld airlines can earn and redeem miles, including status miles, on Fiji Airways flights.

Fiji Airways travellers also benefit from the Oneworld Connect relationship. Fiji Airways frequent flyers can enjoy the same through-check-in privileges on American, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, and Qantas. Furthermore, Tabua Plus cardholders receive priority check-in, priority boarding, and select lounge access worldwide on flights marketed and operated by these four airlines.

Fiji Airways is the flag carrier of Fiji and the South Pacific, serving 26 destinations in 15 states and territories, including Oneworld hubs Sydney, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, and Tokyo. Fiji Link, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fiji Airways, will become an affiliate airline of Oneworld, further extending the alliance's network.
