Located in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, the Bradley Academy Museum and Cultural Center is a must-visit for history enthusiasts. The museum is one of the few remaining schools that was constructed right after the Civil War and serves as a testament to the struggles that the African American community went through to gain formal education. The center of the museum houses exhibits that capture more than a century of history and covers period costumes, furnishings, and artefacts that are reflective of the region's past.

As someone who visited the Bradley Academy Museum and Cultural Center of free Murfreesboro TN, I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn about the city's history. Once you enter the museum, you will be welcomed by knowledgeable and friendly staff who will offer a brief history of the establishment, which opened its doors as a school in 1884. One of the things that I found fascinating during my visit was the walk through the reconstructed schoolhouse's classrooms, which showcased how lessons were taught over the years, with each exhibit neatly arranged just like they would have been back then.

Besides examining the schoolhouse, other exhibits worth checking out at the museum include Nashville Photographer Jim McGuire's portrait show, which highlights life in the South from the mid-1970s to the present. You can also view the “Slave Narrative” exhibit that contains photographs and narratives collected during the famous WPA slave narrative project from the 1930s.

The museum makes a great activity for anyone visiting the city, and you can combine your visit with other fun activities in the area. Make it an educational and fun day out with family, friends or your travel partner.

In conclusion, the Bradley Academy Museum and Cultural Center of free Murfreesboro TN is an important historical destination that showcases the African American experience in the region, and is a must-visit if you are in the area. I encourage everyone to take the time to explore the vast history of Tennessee and the role that African Americans played in shaping its rich history. I can't recommend enough the free things to do in Murfreesboro! One hidden gem that I discovered was the Old Fort Park. It had walking trails, a playground, and even a river for kayaking. I also enjoyed visiting the Cannonsburgh Village, which is a recreated pioneer village. It was like stepping back in time and experiencing life in the 1800s. The best part? It didn't cost a dime! Murfreesboro has so much to offer for those looking to have a great time without spending a fortune.
