But at Wrigley Field, the seventh inning is special because it marks the time when everyone sings "Take Me Out to the Ballgame."

The tradition of singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the seventh-inning stretch started at Wrigley Field back in 1934. The Cubs' owner at the time, P.K. Enjoy a game from a rooftop nearby

Source: www.enjoyillinois.com

If you're a baseball fan, there's nothing quite like watching a game at Wrigley Field. This iconic stadium in Chicago has been around since 1914 and is home to the Chicago Cubs. With its classic ivy-covered outfield walls, manually operated scoreboard, and cozy, neighborhood atmosphere, Wrigley Field is a must-visit destination for any sports lover.

But what if you don't have tickets to a game? Fear not, because there's still a way to soak up the Wrigley Field experience: by enjoying a game from a nearby rooftop.

Yes, that's right. Along Waveland and Sheffield Avenues, just beyond the outfield walls of Wrigley Field, there are buildings with rooftop decks where you can watch the game in style. These decks offer a unique perspective on the action, with clear views of the field and the iconic scoreboard.

There are several companies that offer rooftop experiences, with different packages and amenities. Some rooftops include all-inclusive food and drink packages, while others offer a more basic experience with a cash bar. Prices vary depending on the game and the level of service you choose, but generally range from $75-$250 per person.

One of the best things about watching a game from a rooftop is the atmosphere. It's a lively, festive scene, with fellow fans cheering on the Cubs, enjoying food and drinks, and soaking up the sunshine (or playing lawn games on the deck during rain delays). It's a great way to experience the camaraderie of a live game without the steep ticket prices.

Of course, there are some drawbacks to rooftop viewing. You won't be as close to the action as you would be in the stadium, and you won't get the full sensory experience (like the crack of the bat or the roar of the crowd). There's also the chance that the weather could interfere with your plans, although most rooftops have indoor seating areas and contingency plans in case of rain.

If you're interested in experiencing a Wrigley Field game from a rooftop, it's important to plan ahead. Tickets can sell out quickly, especially for popular matchups. You'll also want to double-check the rooftop's policies on outside food and drink, as well as any dress codes or restrictions.

All in all, watching a Cubs game from a rooftop is a unique and exciting way to enjoy the Wrigley Field experience. Whether you're a diehard fan or just looking for a fun afternoon with friends, it's a great activity to add to your Chicago itinerary. Let's play ball!
