Carmel, also known as Carmel-by-the-Sea, is a charming coastal town located on California's Monterey Peninsula. It's a great destination for families, offering plenty of fun activities for kids. One must-do activity with kids in Carmel is conquering the sand dunes at Carmel Beach.

Carmel Beach is a gorgeous stretch of shoreline that offers something for everyone. It's great for swimming, sunbathing, and surfing, but for kids, the real adventure lies in the sand dunes. These towering hills of sand offer endless opportunities for exploration and fun.

The first step in conquering the sand dunes is to climb to the top. It's no easy feat, but the reward is worth it. From the top of the dunes, you'll get a bird's eye view of the beach and the ocean. Plus, the feeling of accomplishment is pretty great, too.

Once you're at the top, the real fun can begin. One activity kids love is rolling down the sand dunes. It's just like sledding, but on sand. Just be sure to choose a safe spot and keep an eye out for other people on the dunes.

Another fun activity is building sandcastles. The soft, fine sand at Carmel Beach is perfect for building elaborate sand structures. Plus, it offers a fun creative outlet for kids.

If your kids have a sense of adventure, they may enjoy jumping off the sand dunes into the soft sand below. Of course, safety is key here, so be sure to choose a safe spot and supervise closely.

When you're finished playing in the sand, take a walk along the beach to explore the tide pools. Kids will love searching for crabs, starfish, and other sea creatures in the shallow pools of water. Just be sure to leave everything as you found it, as these creatures are an important part of the beach ecosystem.

Overall, conquering the sand dunes at Carmel Beach is a must-do activity for families visiting Carmel. Whether you're rolling down the dunes, building sandcastles, or exploring the tide pools, there's plenty of fun to be had. Just be sure to bring sunscreen, plenty of water, and a sense of adventure.

Take a glass-blowing class at Tango Studio

If you're looking for a unique and memorable activity to do with your kids in Carmel, consider taking a glass-blowing class at Tango Studio. This art studio offers a hands-on experience that will not only allow your kids to create something special but also learn about the art of glass-blowing.

Before you arrive, make sure to wear comfortable and lightweight clothing, as you will be working near a hot furnace. Closed-toe shoes are also a requirement for safety reasons. The instructors at Tango Studio will provide you and your kids with the necessary tools and materials and will guide you through the process of creating your own masterpiece.

The first step in the class is to choose the colors for your glass piece. Your kids will have a blast selecting their favorite colors and making decisions about their creations. Then comes the exciting part: heating up the glass in the furnace until it is molten and dripping off the end of the rod. The instructors will help your kids shape the glass by blowing into the rod or using tools to mold it.

It's important to note that glass-blowing is an art form that requires practice, patience, and focus. This means that the final product may not be perfect or exactly what your kids envisioned. However, that's also part of the magic of creating something unique and handmade.

Once your glass piece is complete, it will need time to cool down in a special oven called a kiln. This completes the annealing process and ensures that the glass won't crack or shatter due to thermal shock.

After your class at Tango Studio, your kids will have a one-of-a-kind souvenir to remember their experience by. Plus, they will have learned about the art of glass-blowing and the science behind it. Who knows, maybe this class will even inspire a future career in art or science!

Overall, taking a glass-blowing class at Tango Studio is a fun and educational activity to do with your kids in Carmel. It's an opportunity to bond over a shared experience and create memories that will last a lifetime.
