If you're looking for a unique adventure, why not explore the underground mining railway in Kimberley, Canada? The railway is a fascinating journey back in time that takes visitors through the heart of a former lead and zinc mine that operated for over 80 years.

The underground railway opened in the 2000s and is one of the area's biggest tourist attractions. The ride starts with a 15-minute tour of the mining museum, which includes a variety of exhibits and artifacts from the early days of the mine. The tour guide provides insight into the history of the mine and the impact it had on the local community.

After the museum tour, visitors then hop aboard the underground railway for a 30-minute ride through the tunnels and caverns of the mine. The ride itself is an unforgettable experience, with visitors traveling underground in a comfortable train car while surrounded by the dimly lit and eerily quiet mine.

The tour takes you to various points of interest within the mine, including the original entrance used by miners, a drilling site, and a subterranean lake. Near the end of the ride, you'll get to witness the simulated blasting of a part of the mine's underground rock face, which is an unforgettable experience.

One of the most intriguing aspects of the railway is the fact that the mine is still in use today. Though the mine has been active for well over a century, new technologies and mining techniques have allowed it to continue operating in a more sustainable way. This means that visitors can see both the mine's past and present operation during the tour.

Overall, exploring the underground mining railway in Kimberley is an excellent adventure for history buffs, families, and anyone looking for an unforgettable experience. Tickets are reasonably priced, and the tours run daily throughout the summer season. So if you find yourself in the area, be sure to add this unique experience to your itinerary!
