Hike the picturesque Lusk Cave Trail

Hike
Source: SlopeEdge

Located in the stunning Parc national du Mont-Tremblant in Quebec, Canada, Montebello is a peaceful town that’s surrounded by towering mountains, pristine lakes, and dense forests. Montebello is a hub for outdoor enthusiasts, offering several hiking trails, camping sites, and fishing spots.

One of Montebello’s most popular hiking trails is the Lusk Cave Trail. This picturesque trail is ideal for hikers who are looking for a challenge and love to explore nature. The trail is named after a fascinating natural cave that’s situated at the end of it. The Lusk Cave Trail is approximately 5.5 kilometers (3.4 miles) long, and it usually takes three to four hours to complete.

The Lusk Cave Trail is a loop, which means that hikers can choose to begin at any of the two entrances. The north entrance starts at the P19 parking lot, while the south entrance begins at the P17 parking lot. The southern trailhead requires hikers to ford the shallow but sometimes strong water currents of the Rivière du Diable. Hikers are advised to use caution while crossing the river.

The trail itself is relatively challenging due to the many inclines and rocky terrain. The hike involves several stream crossings, large rock formations, and steep rocky hillsides. Hikers should be prepared to get their feet wet and muddy while crossing the streams and navigating the cave. The trail is well-maintained but is still not suitable for novice hikers or those who are unable to climb over rocks.

After traversing the trail, hikers are rewarded with the incredible Lusk Cave. The cave is a natural formation that has been carved out of the rock by the rushing water of the Rivière du Diable. Inside the cave, hikers can explore the many winding tunnels and breathtaking waterfalls. The cave itself is quite large, and the temperature inside is much cooler than the outside temperature.

In conclusion, the Lusk Cave Trail is an excellent hiking experience for those who love nature and adventurous activities. We advise hikers to wear sturdy shoes, bring plenty of water, snacks, and a flashlight, and to be physically fit enough to tackle the terrain. The Lusk Cave Trail is a memorable experience that will leave hikers in awe of the natural wonders the region has to offer.
