There are also several rustic cabins that can be rented for those who prefer indoor accommodations. The park also has several picnic areas where visitors can enjoy a family outing in the great outdoors.

One of the best things about Stewart Lake Park is that it’s open year-round. The park offers a different kind of recreation during each season. During summer, visitors can indulge in swimming and sunbathing by the lake. In the fall, the park is transformed into a vibrant display of colors as the trees change hue. In winter, visitors can go snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, or snowshoeing through the park’s pristine trails. Spring brings new life to the park with the arrival of migratory birds and the blooming of wildflowers.

The park is owned and managed by the Town of Verona and has a fascinating history. The area was first settled by Norwegian immigrants in the mid-1800s. The area was named after Mount Horeb in the Bible, which was believed to be the place where Moses encountered God. The park itself is named after Stewart Lake, which was named after a local farmer, George Stewart.

Overall, Stewart Lake Park offers a unique travel experience for those seeking outdoor recreation and relaxation. Whether it’s fishing, boating, hiking, camping, or simply enjoying nature, there’s something for everyone. As the park’s website proudly proclaims, “Stewart Lake Park is one of Dane County’s best-kept secrets, and we invite you to come and experience it for yourself!”

Mt. Horeb is a great place to visit if you're a fan of outdoor activities. I had a blast hiking at Blue Mound State Park and taking in the beautiful views from the observation tower. The scenery in the area is fantastic, especially during the fall when the leaves change color. Don't forget to stop by the Duluth Trading Co. headquarters while you're there – it's a fun place to browse and pick up some unique souvenirs!
