The salt concentration is so high that it results in the water having a pink or red hue, giving a stunning contrast against the surrounding vegetation.

The two main salt lakes on the island are the Pink Lake and the Lake Bagdad. The Pink Lake, as the name suggests, has a unique pink color, which is due to a high concentration of algae and bacteria that live in the salty waters. This lake is perfect for taking photos to create great Instagram posts. Notably, the hue of the Pink Lake can vary depending on the time of day, weather, and season. Therefore, it is always better to check the lake out during different times of the day to experience its beauty in various shades.

On the other hand, Lake Bagdad is a shallow and much larger lake than Pink Lake. During the summer months, the lake often dries out, leaving behind a vast expanse of salt flats, which is a unique experience in itself. The salt flats gleam white in the sun, which creates a vast canvas for taking stunning landscape images. Additionally, it is fascinating to see the salt crystals that form in the lake bed when the water evaporates completely.
