Source: www.nj.com

As Halloween approaches, many people are seeking out spooky and supernatural experiences. For those in New Jersey, a ghost tour of Cape May is just the thing. This charming seaside town is known for its Victorian architecture and beautiful gardens, but it also has a darker side. Here are some of the highlights of a Cape May ghost tour.

The tour begins at nightfall, when the shadows are longest and the atmosphere is just right for tales of haunted history. Groups of visitors gather at a designated spot, where an experienced guide regales them with stories of eerie encounters and unexplained events. Many of these tales involve encounters with ghosts of the town's former residents, who seem to have lingered behind after death.

One of the most famous stories involves the ghost of Emlen Physick, a prominent resident of Cape May who died in 1916. His former home, the Emlen Physick Estate, is now a museum that welcomes visitors during the day. But at night, some say that Physick's ghost can be seen out of the corner of one's eye, or felt as a sudden chill in the air.

Another haunting tale involves the Angel of the Sea, a beautiful Victorian bed and breakfast that is said to be haunted by the ghost of a former owner. Some guests have reported hearing footsteps or seeing the apparition of a woman in a long dress. Others have experienced strange sensations or objects moving inexplicably on their own.

Throughout the tour, visitors will learn about Cape May's history as a town that was both a haven for wealthy vacationers and a site of devastating tragedies. From shipwrecks to fires, there are many reasons why some believe that ghosts still linger in the town's streets, parks, and buildings.

Whether you believe in ghosts or not, a ghost tour of Cape May is a unique and memorable way to experience this historic town. Who knows – you may even have your own supernatural encounter along the way!
