One activity that you definitely don't want to miss out on is snorkeling in Molokini Crater. Here's everything you need to know about this incredible experience.

Molokini Crater is a partially-submerged volcanic caldera located just off the coast of Maui. The crater was formed long ago when a volcanic eruption caused the top of a volcano to collapse in on itself. Today, the beautiful crescent-shaped crater is surrounded by crystal-clear waters that are home to all kinds of vibrant sea life.

Yes, snorkeling in Molokini Crater is safe for most people. You'll need to have basic swimming skills and be comfortable in the water, but you don't need any special training or certification. Most tour operators provide all the necessary snorkeling equipment, including fins, a snorkel, and a mask. They'll also typically provide life jackets and floatation devices for those who need them.

The best time to go snorkeling in Molokini Crater is during the winter months, when the water is typically the clearest. The best time of day to go is early in the morning, when the water is calmest and there are fewer crowds. Keep in mind that tours often fill up quickly, so it's a good idea to book your trip in advance if you want to guarantee a spot.

Before you go snorkeling in Molokini Crater, be sure to wear plenty of sunscreen and bring a waterproof camera to capture all the amazing sights. It's also important to be respectful of the marine life and to avoid touching or disturbing any of the creatures you encounter. Finally, make sure to follow the instructions of your tour guide and stay within the designated snorkeling area to ensure your safety.

Overall, snorkeling in Molokini Crater is an incredible experience that you won't want to miss. If you're planning a trip to Maui this winter, be sure to add this amazing adventure to your itinerary!

Maui, Hawaii is a paradise all year round, but the winter season has its own charm. With clear skies and cooler temperatures, it's the perfect time for outdoor adventures. One of the best things to do on Maui this winter is to take a scenic drive on the historic Road to Hana.

Stretching along the eastern coast of Maui for 52 miles, the Road to Hana has been named one of the most scenic drives in the world. The road winds its way through lush rainforests, alongside waterfalls, and over 59 bridges, offering stunning views of the island's natural beauty.

If you're planning to drive the Road to Hana this winter, here are a few tips to help you make the most of your journey:

  • Plan Ahead: The road can be narrow, winding, and there are plenty of one-lane bridges, so it's important to be prepared beforehand. Make sure you’ve stocked up on snacks, drinks, and sunscreen. Also, pack a swimsuit and towel, so you can take a dip in one of the many natural pools or waterfalls along the way.
  • Start Early: The earlier you start, the less traffic you’ll encounter. We suggest starting your drive around sunrise, so you can enjoy spectacular views during daylight hours.
  • Take Your Time: The Road to Hana is all about enjoying the journey. Stop often to take photos, go for a walk and explore the area, or take a refreshing dip in a river or waterfall. You can also visit several small villages along the way, such as Ke'anae and Hana, where you can shop for local goods or try traditional Hawaiian dishes.
  • Drive with Care: As mentioned earlier, the Road to Hana can be challenging, with tight turns, narrow sections, and many bridges with only one lane. Drive carefully, and if you need to pull over or stop, make sure you do so in a designated area.
  • Head Back Early: The drive back along the Road to Hana can be more challenging than the journey to the end. The light will also be fading, so make sure you have enough time to get back before it gets dark.

Driving the Road to Hana during winter is an unforgettable experience that will take you through some of the most breathtaking landscapes Maui has to offer. But remember to plan ahead, take your time, and enjoy everything that this famous scenic drive has to offer.

Most tours depart from Lahaina and Ma'alaea Harbor, and they typically last between two and three hours. Some tours offer the opportunity to get up close and personal with the whales, while others may follow strict guidelines aimed at protecting these majestic creatures.

Safety First

Whales are wild animals, and it's important to remember that they can be unpredictable. To ensure your safety and that of the whales, it's crucial to follow the rules and regulations laid out by your tour operator. These may include maintaining a safe distance from the whales or avoiding approaching them head-on. It's also important to dress appropriately for the tour, wear sunscreen, and bring plenty of water, especially if you're taking a longer tour.
