Meditation or deep breathing exercises

Meditation
Source: kwanumzen.org

When you find yourself in a situation where you are non weight bearing, it can be frustrating and limiting. However, it’s important to remember that there are still many things you can do to manage your mental and emotional well-being. One great option is to practice meditation or deep breathing exercises.

Meditation is a powerful tool for calming the mind and reducing stress levels. It involves sitting or lying down, closing your eyes, and focusing your attention on your breath or a specific object. By doing this, you can clear your mind of thoughts and worries, and instead become fully present and aware of your surroundings.

To get started with meditation, find a quiet and comfortable space where you won’t be disturbed. Set a timer for 5-10 minutes to start, and focus on your breath as you inhale and exhale. When thoughts arise, simply acknowledge them and guide your focus back to your breath. With consistent practice, you can gradually increase the length of your meditation sessions and enjoy deeper relaxation and inner peace.

Deep breathing exercises are another great option for managing stress and anxiety. They can be done anywhere, anytime, and only require a few minutes of your time. These exercises involve taking slow, deep breaths from your diaphragm, which helps to reduce tension and promote a sense of calm.

To practice deep breathing, find a comfortable seated position and close your eyes. Place one hand on your chest and the other on your belly. Inhale deeply through your nose, feeling your belly expand as you fill your lungs with air. Hold for a few seconds, then exhale slowly through your mouth, feeling your belly contract. Repeat these breaths for several minutes, focusing on the sensation of your breath moving in and out of your body.

In addition to reducing stress and anxiety, meditation and deep breathing exercises can also improve your overall mental and physical well-being. By taking time to quiet your mind and connect with your breath, you can cultivate a greater sense of inner peace, relaxation, and resilience. Give these practices a try, and see how they can benefit you during your non weight bearing period.
