Los Angeles can be a daunting city to navigate, but fear not! The city has plenty of friendly spots for visitors. One such spot is the bohemian haven of Venice Beach. Spend an afternoon here and you're sure to feel the laidback vibe of Los Angeles's beach culture.

Venice Beach is a stretch of the city's coastline that's become an iconic destination. The beach itself is lovely, with soft sand and clear blue water, but it's really the atmosphere that sets this spot apart. Here, you'll find a mix of beach bums, artists, and street performers, all soaking up the sun and enjoying life.

One of the best things to do at Venice Beach is simply to people-watch. The crowd here is diverse, and you're likely to see everything from jugglers to skateboarders to yoga enthusiasts. If you're feeling active, you can rent a bike or a set of rollerblades and cruise the boardwalk along the beach. Or, if you're feeling more relaxed, grab a towel and stake out a spot on the sand to sunbathe and watch the waves.

Another must-see spot at Venice Beach is the Venice Beach Boardwalk. This two-and-a-half-mile stretch of pavement is home to vendors selling everything from souvenirs to snacks to artwork. If you're looking for a fun outdoor adventure in Los Angeles, a hike up to the Hollywood Sign is a must-do. The Hollywood Sign is an iconic landmark that overlooks the city, and hiking up to it offers incredible views and great exercise. Plus, it's totally free!

The hike starts at Griffith Observatory, which is itself a popular tourist destination and a great place to check out some amazing views of LA. From there, you'll head up a scenic trail that winds through the hills and offers breathtaking vistas of the city and surrounding landscape.

The hike isn't for the faint of heart, though. It's about three miles round-trip, and you'll be climbing up steep hills and navigating some rocky paths. But don't worry – it's not too difficult for most people, and the payoff at the top is more than worth it.

When you reach the sign, you'll be able to get up close and personal with this famous landmark. There's even a great lookout area where you can take some amazing photos and enjoy the view. And if you're feeling really adventurous, you can even climb up to the top of the sign (though we don't recommend it, as it's both dangerous and illegal).

One thing to keep in mind is that the hike can get crowded, especially on weekends and during peak tourist season. But if you go early in the morning or on a weekday, you should be able to avoid the worst of the crowds. And even if there are lots of people around, the hike is so engaging and the scenery so beautiful that it's still a great experience.

Overall, hiking up to the Hollywood Sign is a quintessentially LA experience that you shouldn't miss. It's a great workout, a fun way to see the city, and a chance to get up close and personal with one of its most famous landmarks. So grab your hiking boots and head on up – the view from the top is waiting!
