First off, what is Cosmic Cavern? It's a natural cave system that was discovered in 1845 by early settlers looking for shelter. Today, the cavern is open to visitors and offers guided tours that take you deep into the earth to explore the stunning underground formations. What makes Cosmic Cavern unique is the fact that it's still an active cave - which means that it's still growing and changing. As you explore the cavern, you'll see fascinating formations like stalactites, stalagmites, flowstone, and more - all created over millions of years by the slow drip of water and the gradual formation of minerals.

One thing that sets Cosmic Cavern apart from other caves in the area is the fact that it offers two different tours. This tour is perfect for families with young kids or anyone who wants a relatively chill cave experience.

But if you're up for more of an adventure, the second tour is the "Wild Cave" tour. You'll be outfitted with helmets, headlamps, and kneepads for this tour, which lasts around three hours. It's definitely not for the faint of heart, but if you're up for a challenge, it's a thrilling experience that you won't forget.

No matter which tour you choose, you'll be led by a knowledgeable guide who can answer all your questions and point out interesting features along the way. You'll also learn about the cave's unique history - like the fact that it was once used as a speakeasy during Prohibition, or that it served as a fallout shelter during the Cold War.

In addition to the cave tours, Cosmic Cavern also offers a gemstone mining experience. Visitors can purchase bags of dirt that contain rough gemstones like quartz, amethyst, and citrine, and then use water to wash away the dirt and reveal the shiny gems inside. It's a fun activity for kids and adults alike, and you get to take home your own bag of treasures.

Overall, if you're looking for a unique and unforgettable experience in the Berryville area, Cosmic Cavern should definitely be on your list.
