Located on Route 66 in Catoosa, Oklahoma, The Blue Whale is a popular attraction that has been delighting visitors for generations. This quirky landmark is a perfect example of the nostalgic kitsch that made Route 66 so beloved.

At first glance, The Blue Whale might seem like an odd place to visit. After all, it's just a giant concrete whale sitting in a pond, right? But the truth is that The Blue Whale is so much more than that. It's a reminder of a simpler time, when road trips were the norm and people were content with the simple pleasures in life.

The history of The Blue Whale dates back to the 1970s, when Hugh Davis built it as a gift for his wife, Zelta. She had always loved whales, and he wanted to build her a little oasis where they could swim and relax. Over time, their pond became a popular spot for locals to hang out, and The Blue Whale became a beloved landmark along Route 66.

Today, The Blue Whale is open to the public, and visitors from all over the world come to take a dip in the pond and snap a photo with the iconic whale. There's even a little playground on site for kids, making it a great spot for families.

But The Blue Whale isn't just a swimming hole and playground. It's also a testament to the power of love and creativity. Hugh Davis may have built it for his wife, but he unwittingly created a spot that would bring joy to so many others for generations to come.

So if you're ever passing through Catoosa, be sure to make a stop at The Blue Whale. It's a little slice of Route 66 nostalgia that you won't soon forget.
