Source: Finding Hot Springs

Running Springs is a small mountain town in Southern California, located just a short drive from the Deep Creek Hot Springs Trail. This scenic hiking trail is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike, providing stunning views of the San Bernardino Mountains and refreshing pools of natural spring water.

The trail is a moderate 3.5-mile hike, with a gradual descent down to the valley floor. The trailhead is located just off the Bowen Ranch Road, which can be easily accessed from Running Springs or nearby cities such as San Bernardino or Riverside.

As you make your way down the trail, you’ll pass through a variety of landscapes, including lush oak groves, rocky canyons, and open meadows. Along the way, keep an eye out for wildlife, such as mule deer, coyotes, and even the occasional black bear.

After about two miles, you’ll reach the main attraction of the trail: the Deep Creek Hot Springs. Here, you’ll find a series of crystal clear pools of water, ranging in temperature from cool to very hot. The water is naturally heated by underground geothermal activity, and is said to contain beneficial minerals that can soothe sore muscles and improve circulation.

The hot springs are a popular spot for relaxing and sunbathing, but keep in mind that the area is clothing optional. If you’re looking for a bit more privacy, there are a few small pools located along the creek that are usually less crowded.

While the hot springs are the main draw of this trail, the hike itself is also worth experiencing. With stunning views of the San Bernardino Mountains and the peaceful sounds of the creek, it’s the perfect way to spend a day in nature.

Just be sure to pack plenty of water, as the trail can get quite hot and dry in the summer months. And if you’re planning on taking a dip in the hot springs, be prepared for a bit of a hike back up to the trailhead – the climb back up can be quite steep!

Overall, the Deep Creek Hot Springs Trail is a must-visit destination for anyone in the Running Springs area. With its beautiful scenery and relaxing natural pools, it’s a great way to escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life and connect with nature.
