One of the unique attractions that draws visitors to Varenna is the Fiumelatte, which is the shortest river in Italy and is famous for its milky white color.

The Fiumelatte, which means "milk river" in Italian, gets its name from the characteristic white foam that forms along its course. This unusual natural phenomenon is caused by the fast-flowing water that rushes down the steep slopes of the nearby mountains. To fully appreciate the beauty of the Fiumelatte, several viewpoints have been established along its course. These vantage points offer a closer look at the river's striking white color and the force with which it flows.
